Some more information on my setup to test the Andropilot app using VRBRAIN
In my test, I use:
- My great VRBRAIN Controller running the latest 2.9 firmware
- 3DR Radio Telemetry Kit - 433Mhz
- Google Nexus 7 tablet (other android Tablets and Phones can be used)
- The Andropilot Application
The 3DR Radio module is Connected to the telemetry com port on my VRBRAIN (TX, RX; GND and +5V)
In the image, I Power my VRBRAIN using the USB cable.
No hacking - all Plug and Play :-)

Guiallaume - Great work on the Java MAVLink code :-)
i have tested it with XBee 2.4Ghz and my Galaxy S2 and it works fine with VrBRain and last 2.9 firmware...
For information i have written Java MAVLink code fro Andropilot! :-)
For HDU (Artificial Horizon) Android 4.2 or sup. is needed else it is slow.
I solved :) I upload the firmware in ground and air module . In windows 8 the ftdi cable is not visible until i have installed ftdi usb-ttl . When i installed the driver i see as com9 the ground module and then i use the cable for upload the firmware on ground and air module.
After upload firmware i see the green led fixed on two module and all work fine !!!
Now i retry to check andropilot on an android pad ...
Best
Roberto
P.S.
Oyvind thanks for your support !!
Hi Roberto,
I use the same 433mhz module. On the computer/Nexus 7 side I use an 3DR module that have USB like this one (but 433mhz). I think the drivers are installed when you install MissionPlanner.
Hi Oyvind,
today i check the 3dr radio , i have the revision for europer 433 mhz , i try to connect to my android pad , but i don't see the link with radio connected with mission planner . So the strange is that when i try to connect to pc with win8 i don't see the usb ... could be a problem of my cable or there is a strange driver that i need to install before to use it ?
You don't have problem with 3dr radio driver ?
VRBRAIN on the Andropilot compability list :-)

Hi Oyvind ,
that's true , is possible to use the usb port also with a portable battery pack , as the expander for smartphone and disable in config the use of usb port !!!
Remember - If you use firmware that support connecting to MissionPlanner using USB, you can not use the USB cable to Power Your VRBRAIN (like I have done in the image), because then the telemetry port used to Connect the 3DR Radio module is disabled.
You can solve this by Power VRBRAIN using LiPo.
Great Work :)
