I'll be happy to start a discussion about the realization of a RemoteOperatedVehicle for underwater survey purpose.
I work for a company in Italy that produce and offer service with this kind of vehicle for Oil&Gas market. My idea is project a mini ROV able to perform the same tasks of his big brothers that usually costs 50 k$. The way will be long and hard.... but.. as always.. only the braves .... :-)

the Chief of the project is Flavio Matrix he have a good experience on professional rov , actualy we're evaluate a entry level feature of T100 . So in this kind of development there're a lot of component to implement , the frame , the motors , the electronix .
Actualy I'm on electronic stabilization system using our Ardubotix Board Multipilot 1.0A that normaly we used on quad rotor and rc airplane . We can use it to stabilize the ROV underwater.
Then the idea is to use a fiber optic for video camera and a wire with high voltage for the power of row ... We are evaluation to use 250 volt , with a special cut off circuit for safe of operator ... because our idea is to use 7 kw of motor .... so we need power ... In a light version we intend to use also battery.
